This wall mounted bottle rack is a single board of reclaimed Douglas fir or redwood, 3 1/4 inches across and an inch thick, bored to hold four or six bottles by the neck. Its edge meets the wall; the bottles seem to float beside it.

Floating bottle shelf in reclaimed fir with four bored holes, shown empty

As a floating bottle shelf it needs only a narrow strip of wall by a kitchen window or pantry. Salvaged and oiled by hand, no two boards share a grain — the quiet logic of our handmade wall pieces.

Artisanal Care & Longevity Guide

Tung oil lives inside the grain rather than on top of it, so this board is maintained, never refinished: a dry cloth most weeks and a little oil now and then.

Care Instructions

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Wipe drips and spills from the wood straight away.
  • When the surface looks pale or dry, rub in a thin coat of tung oil and buff off the excess.
  • Keep away from standing water and direct heat.

You May Ask

How Big Is The Rack?

The 4-bottle board measures 20 inches tall, 3 1/4 inches wide and 1 inch thick; the 6-bottle board runs 30 inches tall at the same width and thickness. Either one takes a slim strip of wall, so a kitchen corner or the space beside a window frame is usually enough.

What Wood Is It Made From?

Each board is reclaimed Douglas fir or redwood, salvaged from construction sites, de-nailed, cleaned and finished with tung oil by hand. Because the species and the salvage vary, colour, grain and small knots differ from piece to piece; that variation is the character of a wall mounted bottle rack built from old lumber.

How Does It Mount, And What Comes With It?

Mounting hardware is included in the box. The board fixes to the wall by its narrow edge and stands out like a fin, with the bored holes running parallel to the wall, so each bottle lies on its side close to the surface. Fix it into a stud or solid wall for the firmest hold.

How Long Does It Take To Ship?

Each rack is made by hand in a small San Francisco workshop, so it typically leaves the studio in about one week. Shipping is free on every order, and tracking follows as soon as it is on its way, so you can plan where it goes on the wall before it arrives.

What If It Doesn't Suit The Wall Once It's Here?

It goes back. Every order carries our 15 Days Money Back Guarantee, counted from the day it arrives, and ships with Free Tracked & Insured Shipping on All Orders (Contiguous US). Hold it against the wall for a day first; the light and the space around it usually settle the question.

Each opening is bored clean through the board, so a bottle rests by its neck with nothing but wood around it.
