A triangle wall planter cut from reclaimed job-site lumber, 9 inches wide and 5 high; the wall bracket is included, so it hangs flat or stands on a shelf. The shape does the decorating, and the plant only has to grow.

Geometric wall planter in torched brushed brown reclaimed wood, mounted with a pilea plant

As a geometric wall planter it reads best in a run of three, staggered up a stairwell like steps. A yarn wick draws water up from the base; see the rest of our vertical greenery edit.

Artisanal Care & Longevity Guide

Reclaimed wood asks for little: dry hands on the outside and measured water on the inside, and in return the grain and knots only deepen with age.

Care Instructions

  • Wipe the outside with a soft, dry cloth; keep the torched faces from soaking so the raised grain stays crisp
  • Water into the planter and let the yarn do the rest; empty standing water if it sits for more than a week
  • Re-oil the natural finish once a year with a little tung oil on a rag, then buff
  • Check the bracket screws once a season and keep the wall side dry

You May Ask

How does the self-watering work?

The supplier includes a length of yarn that you thread through the holes at the bottom of the plant pot. The yarn slowly draws water up from the base of the planter into the soil over time, so you refill it less often and the plant takes only what it needs.

Can it stand on a table instead of the wall?

Yes. The supplier lists it as wall mounted or set on a surface, and the wall brackets are included if you want to mount it. The flat back sits square on a shelf, a desk or a windowsill with the point facing out, so the look holds either way.

What is the wood, and why do the finishes differ?

Each planter is handmade in San Francisco from reclaimed job-site lumber, nails removed and boards cleaned first. Natural carries a tung oil finish. Brushed brown is torched, which leaves raised, dark grain on the outside and a natural top lip and inside.

How big is it, and what pot fits?

It measures 9 inches wide, 7.5 inches deep and 5 inches high, and the supplier sizes it for a 4 inch pot. Mount two or three in a staggered row to make a stepped line on the wall. Wall brackets come with it if you want to mount it.

What if it does not suit the wall?

Every order ships with Free Tracked & Insured Shipping on All Orders (Contiguous US) and carries our 15 Days Money Back Guarantee, counted from delivery. Hold it against the wall for a few days; if the room disagrees, it goes back and you are refunded.

The wall bracket on the back is included, so the planter hangs flat on the wall or sits square on a shelf as it is.

Brushed brown is torched, which leaves the grain raised and dark on the outside while the lip and inside stay natural.

At the mitred point, the torched outside meets the natural lip and interior in a clean two-tone edge.

Natural is finished in tung oil, and knots and nail holes are left in as part of the reclaimed wood.
